Hi, I’m Robin — the hands, heart, and creative brain behind She’s So Handy.
I’ve always believed that the things we live with — the furniture we sit on, the tables we gather around, the pieces we inherit and pass down — tell our stories. And I love giving those pieces a second chance to shine.
You could say I was destined for this work. My grandfather was a tailor, my grandmother an artist, and I grew up surrounded by fabrics, paints, and creativity from the start. My grandfather taught me to sew when I was little, making blankets out of scraps from men's suits, while my grandmother kept me endlessly stocked with paints and art supplies. Somewhere between the sewing machine and the paintbrush, I discovered that I loved making things beautiful again. Even before starting this business, I was the person who couldn’t resist fixing, painting, or refinishing just about anything I could get my hands on.

Fast forward to early 2020. I had just finished painting my own kitchen cabinets when a handyman stopped mid-job, looked at them, and said, “Wow, you should do this professionally.” It planted a seed I couldn’t ignore.
Then COVID hit, and like everyone else, life shifted. While working remotely during lock-down, I decided to give it a try — I launched my business in May 2020. I started by signing up with HomeAdvisor, and because they listed me under “furniture repair,” I quickly found myself doing more repairs than anything else. I didn’t always know how to fix everything at first — but I’m resourceful (and stubborn in the best way). If I didn’t know how, I’d watch tutorials, learn fast, and make it happen for my customers.
By August 2020, I had grown the business enough to leave my full-time job and go all-in. Since then, She’s So Handy has expanded to offer furniture repairs, refinishing, upholstery, custom furniture restyling, and kitchen cabinet painting — all from my one-woman, home-based workshop.
Now, about the name — it has its own story. I used to scroll through social media and see all these refinishers with elegant, chic business names. I brainstormed dozens of ideas, even trying variations using my grandparents’ names, but nothing felt right.
One day, I called my sister to test out a few options, and she said, “Go ahead, give me your Mark Cuban pitch.”
I laughed and told her, “Mark Cuban would hate it. He’d want it to be something like ‘She’s So Handy.’”
The moment I said it, I knew. That was the name. It stuck — and it’s one people always remember.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: furniture has stories worth saving. Whether it’s restoring an heirloom dresser, giving new life to a faded kitchen table, or transforming a thrift-store find into a showstopper, I treat every project like a collaboration between the piece, its history, and your vision.
And when I’m not in the workshop, you’ll probably find me lost in an art exhibit, rocking out at a concert, or winning an unnecessarily intense game of trivia.
Inspiration comes from everywhere — from Monet’s brushstrokes to the bass line of my favorite band — and I bring that creative energy into every piece I touch.
So if you’ve got a piece that deserves a second chance, I’d love to help you make it beautiful all over again.
